In the
famous words of our friend D.J. “The Goods” Jones, “Hello Bitches” and welcome to
our 2011 awesome yearend review. For the first time this year and review will
be co-authored by Aaron and his new wife Adrienne. It’s hard to decide where to
start but we have always thought the best way to begin is at the beginning.
This
year has been one of the wildest weather years ever. It all started with Snowmageddon, better
known as Oklahoma’s first blizzard and was so bad that the hospitals actually
closed for 2 days. We were stuck in the
house for 3 days, and the cars were so covered in snow, up to the tops of their
bumpers, so we couldn’t even drive. We
were also hit with masses of Tornadoes that destroyed Joplin, MO and were
completely devastating to the surrounding area.
The state of Oklahoma also broke the, all time, temperature record with
115 degree days and we had 60 days over 100 degrees this summer. We finally bought a pool but it really felt
more like a hot tub. Then to top
everything off we had record breaking earthquakes. For our out of town friends earthquakes
are a completely new concept to the people of Oklahoma and they woke us up at 3
in the morning (Aaron hates to be woken up at 3AM).
On a
brighter note we celebrated our nephew Eli’s first birthday with cake,
presents, and he got his first opportunity to beat a donkey with a stick, aka a
piƱata! Aaron’s dad has also finally
decided on a nickname for Eli to call him, and out of all the familiar options
which such as grandpa or papa, he chose G-Daddy, and is now sporting a gray
ponytail. We expect his first rap album
titled “Old and Fogey” to be out by the end of 2012.
We also
welcomed a new niece into the world on July 11, 2011, Miss Keyaira Nykole Clayton! Adrienne got to throw her first baby
shower! Kelly Sunday and Derrick Clayton
make beautiful babies!
In May we decided to take a little
weekend getaway and were greeted early one morning with two rednecks aka John
Koller and Tina Long, some luggage on a porch and a sign that read Missouri or
Bust. We drove past them at first but
decided they looked homely so we picked them up and offered to take them with
us. Thus we embarked on the first ever
Hillbilly Vacation to Kansas City where we stayed at the plaza, shopped in the
rain, ate at Ruth’s Chris for the first time, listened to Cartman give us
directions, and enjoyed Worlds of Fun!
April of this year brought on a new
chapter of Aaron’s life when he quit St. John Health System after 8 years of
employment to work at Southwest Medical. He is proud of his many accomplishments
their including the construction of St. John Broken Arrow.
This summer we also participated,
once again, in the Tougher than Hell Motorcycle Rally and got to see REO Speed
Wagon perform live! This year was extra
special as we won a 2010 Harley Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight at the
rally. Aaron, once again, gladly
accepted this gift ALONE as the hillbillies and Adrienne were relaxing in the
pool with their cell phones in the house.
On August
6, 2011, Adrienne became Mrs. Forst and we were married at St. Mary’s Catholic
Church and had a beautiful reception at the Tulsa Elks Lodge with lots of
family and our closest friends. We
drank, ate, danced and Uncle Dan grabbed Adrienne’s butt for a dollar. G-daddy was also enthralled as this date
further solidified the fact that his son is in fact, not gay. It was amazing adventures that lead to an
amazing honeymoon in Cancun where we stayed at the Gran Melia. This was a
present from Grandma Carol Lee and Grandpa Fred Piraro. We laid on the beach, sipped margaritas, and
parasailed. We also visited an Eco park
called Xplor where Adrienne got so excited about zip lining that she swallowed
Mexican water on a slide and barfed for 3 days.
When we
returned we celebrated Momma Diane’s 50th Birthday with a surprise
party and lots of friends and family!
The birthday girl received very thoughtful gifts from her children,
which included Vaseline, diapers, prunes, and boobie lifters. Aaron also celebrated his last birthday of
his 20’s even though he won’t admit it he will turn 30 in 2012. When Adrienne’s birthday rolled around she
wasn’t so lucky. After having
gallbladder surgery on October 10, she was in and out of the ER and drugged for
most of the month. Aaron was quite jealous that Adrienne got to spend her B-day
on drugs and he didn’t.
In
conclusion, this year has been filled with many trips to the casino buffet with
Granny, which usually results in full bellies, and fat pockets, and lots of
time with great family and friends. We
look forward to the beginning of a new year!
Bring on 2012!
